Decisions you can defend.
Infrastructure that scales without rebuilds.

01

Single source of truth

Replace spreadsheet sprawl with governed warehouses your analysts and execs can both trust.

02

Defensible decisions

Every metric traceable to its source. Every model versioned. Every change reviewed.

03

Foundations that scale

Architecture chosen for your stage — not the AWS keynote. Survives 10x growth without a rebuild.

04

Lower platform risk

Compliance, lineage, and observability built in. No black boxes; no on-call surprises.

A focused toolkit. Specialists, not generalists.

Six practice areas, each led by senior engineers who've shipped this in production at scale.

01

Pipelines & ingestion

Connect anything to anywhere. Batch and streaming, CDC from production databases, schema evolution that doesn't break downstream.

02

Warehouses & lakes

Cloud warehouse, lakehouse, or hybrid — chosen for your stage. Migration, optimization, and cost engineering included.

03

Modeling & metrics

Versioned dbt models with tests, lineage, and a metrics layer your BI tools can rely on. End the 'whose number is right' debate.

04

Analytics & dashboards

From self-service exploration to executive dashboards. Built once, embedded everywhere — permissions and lineage handled.

05

Observability & governance

Lineage, freshness, and cost monitoring. Catalogs your team will actually use. SOC 2 / GDPR-ready foundations.

06

ML & feature engineering

Production-ready feature stores, training pipelines, and model serving. Pragmatic ML — not a data-science museum exhibit.

A predictable path from kickoff to hand-off.

Engagements typically run 8–14 weeks. You'll know what's shipping, when, and what 'done' looks like — at every step.

01 · Discovery

Audit current state. Map systems, stakeholders, and data flows. Output: a prioritized roadmap with effort + impact estimates.

Built for teams that need answers — not architecture astronauts.

Storm Inc. is a small, senior team. We pick the boring, durable choice over the resume-driven one. We write our reasoning down. We hand it back to you with the keys.

  • Decisions over decks. Every architecture choice is a written ADR — alternatives we rejected, and why.
  • Demo-driven delivery. Two-week increments, real work running on real data. Not slideware.
  • We leave on purpose. Engagements end with runbooks, paired ownership, and a team that can extend the system without us.

Before you reach out.

How do you price engagements?
We work on either fixed-fee or time-and-materials, depending on how well-defined the scope is. For discovery, audits, or migrations with a clear endpoint, we prefer fixed-fee — you know what you're paying and what you're getting before we start. For longer-running build work where the scope evolves, T&M with a weekly cap is usually fairer to both sides. We don't charge for the initial discovery call, and we'll tell you upfront if we're not the right fit.
How long does a typical engagement take?
Most engagements run 8 to 14 weeks end-to-end — from kickoff through hand-off. Shorter audits and architecture reviews can wrap in 2–3 weeks. Larger platform migrations occasionally extend to 4–6 months, but we break those into phased deliveries rather than running one continuous engagement.
Do you work fully remotely?
Yes. We work remotely across US Eastern and EU Central timezones, with overlap hours that work for both. For longer engagements we can travel for kickoff or critical milestones if it genuinely helps the work — but we don't require it, and most clients prefer the lower overhead of remote-first delivery.
What stack do you specialize in?
Our core stack is Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks for warehousing; dbt for transformation and modeling; Airflow and Kafka for orchestration and streaming; and Looker, Hex, and Metabase on the analytics side. For ML and feature engineering we use Feast, MLflow, and the major cloud-native services (SageMaker, Vertex AI). We're cloud-agnostic across AWS, GCP, and Azure — and we'll always recommend the boring, durable choice over the trendy one.
Can you work with our existing data team, or do you replace them?
We work alongside existing teams — we're not a staffing replacement. The best engagements are the ones where your team is in the room, learning the reasoning behind every architectural decision. Every engagement ends with paired ownership, runbooks, and a documented system your team can extend without us. If you don't have a data team yet, we'll usually recommend hiring at least one person before we leave so the work doesn't stall.
What size company do you typically work with?
We work with startups (typically post-Series A, with real revenue and real data) and mid-market companies up to a few thousand employees. Our best fit is when you have enough data to need real infrastructure but not enough internal headcount to build it from scratch. We're not the right choice for very early-stage startups or enterprises that need a 50-person delivery team.

Let's talk about what you're trying to build.

Tell us a little about the work. We'll reply within one business day with whether we're a good fit, and a few questions to scope a discovery call.
